Arthur, It’s only Rock ‘n’ Roll by Marc Brown – OK Favorite, this Arthur book seemed way longer than the other ones…I had to hide it because I didn’t want to read it again

Belly Button Book! by Sandra Boynton – Favorite, we’ve checked this out a few times…very funny book for little kids obsessed with their belly buttons

The Donkey’s Christmas Song by Nancy Tafuri – Favorite, nice story involving Baby Jesus for Christmastime

Ollie the Stomper by Olivier Dunrea – Favorite, also one we’ve checked out many times

Bear’s Christmas Star by Mireille D’Allance – Favorite, my son seems to enjoy stories about bears

Miss Mouse’s Day by Jan Ormerod – Almost Favorite, I didn’t enjoy reading this one, but my son seemed to like it

The Farmer in the Dell by John O’Brien – Favorite, my son really liked this because I sang it instead of just reading it – we also have a toy that plays the “Farmer in the Dell” song so he was able to put pictures with the song and he loves music!

Baby Day by Susan Heyboer O’Keefe – OK Favorite, perhaps better suited for a baby/1 year old

The Chicken Sisters by Laura Joffe Numeroff – OK Favorite, kind of a strange book and a little long

If you take a mouse to the Movies by Laura Joffe Numeroff – Favorite, another book we’ve had before, but I got it since it involves Christmas

Ten Silly Dogs: a Countdown Story by Lisa Flather – Almost Favorite, dogs are always fun for little boys

Dilly Duckling by Claire Freedman – OK Favorite, nice “touch and feel” feathers but I don’t think I ever finished reading the whole book

Little Bear’s Little Boat by Eve Bunting – Favorite, my son loves anything described as “little” so this was fun to have a little bear with a little boat

Just Me in the Tub by Gina Mayer – Almost Favorite, these Little Critter books are always cute

Arthur’s Teacher Moves In by Marc Tolon Brown – Almost Favorite, my son really likes the Arthur books

Hey, Little Ant by Philip M. Hoose – OK Favorite, nothing too special but kind of interesting

One Cow, Moo, Moo! by David Bennett – Favorite, a fun book about animals and the noises they make

Clifford’s First Autumn by Norman Bridwell – Almost Favorite, my 2 year old seems to really like Clifford even though I think some of the stories are boring

D.W.’s Library Card by Marc Tolon Brown – Favorite, a cute Arthur story about the library

Sometimes it’s hard to tell which books are my son’s favorites. I know which ones I prefer reading, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that he likes the sames ones. This week my husband and I both agreed that repetitive books are annoying to read. Repetitive books go like this, “pg 1 – This is the bed, pg 2 – This is the cat who sat on the bed, pg 3 – This is the tail of the cat who sat on the bed…” You get my point. I usually just shorten the phrases once they get too long and my son doesn’t notice. We got two of those books this week and my son really liked one of them, and seemed so-so with the other one. Here is this week’s list:

Five Little Monkeys sitting in a Tree by Eileen Christelow – Favorite, my son seems to really like monkeys so this was a good pick

The Chair Where Bear Sits by Lee Wardlaw – Favorite, this book has some neat flaps for the kids to turn, and my son really loved it (I tried to skip it a lot because it’s one of the repetitive ones, but he never let me)

The new Babysitter by Sheryl Berk – Favorite, my son didn’t like this book because of Barney, (he doesn’t know who Barney is) he liked it because of the milk and cookies with the babysitter

What did you Put in Your Pocket? by Beatrice Schenk De Regniers – Favorite, pockets are intriguing to 2 year olds – my son is just learning that he can stick things in his pocket and so in turn liked this book (but I didn’t really like the illustrations)

Where is my Mommy? by Julie Downing – Almost Favorite, my son liked seeing the different animals and their mamas

Gossie by Olivier Dunrea – Almost Favorite, this is a book in a series about goslings and Ollie the Stomper is still our favorite one

Gossie & Gertie by Olivier Dunrea – Almost favorite, same reason as above

Pearl’s new Skates by Holly Keller – OK Favorite, my son sat through it for several reads but never got too excited

Nosy Rosie by Holly Keller – OK Favorite, same reason and author as above

Christmas Morning by Cheryl Ryan – OK Favorite, this was one of those repetitive ones and I think my son only liked it because it’s about Christmas…there are some cute action ideas in the back of the book though, I didn’t try them out

What do you love? by Jonathan London – OK favorite, liked to say the title but wasn’t very excited while reading it

So at least there were no bad ones this week!
