Shameless Pleasure

Over the past few months I’ve read this whole series:

There are 10 books in total with a few mini novellas as well. I’m a little ashamed to admit how much I enjoyed it. The first 3 books were really good and then it started to drag a little in the middle books. But I just read the last 2 books almost all in one day.

Princess Mia (#9) and Forever Princess (#10) were both really good. The plot moved along quicker and things really started changing for Mia. The author, Meg Cabot, is really witty and made me laugh out loud several times.

And the main love interest, Michael Moscovitz, is a total stud. Honestly. He’s hot AND a genius. Will miss reading about him :).

Fun Children’s Series

Since it’s M week, I thought I should do a quick post about Blake’s new favorite series of books. Several people recommended these to me and I can understand why.

(The Magic Tree House series by Mary Pope Osborne)

Blake loves them. We’ve already read the first 5 in the series. I have #6 & #7 on hold at the library. They are pretty short chapter books that have at least one picture in each chapter. Clark can even sit still and listen to them sometimes.

They help teach the children about history as well. Highly recommended. 🙂

A Few Suggestions…

Read this:

It has been my favorite book of the year – by far – and the sequel comes out in 2 weeks! (I’ve read this book 3 times this year – and I don’t usually reread books until it’s been a few years)

Watch this:

If you enjoy romantic long movies set in the 1800s – you will enjoy this! (Not as good as Pride & Prejudice or as good as the book itself, but still very enjoyable)

And use this cable/internet/phone provider:

When we bought our house in January we finally had to pay for Internet (our rental home had it included for free). The best deal Dan could find was with Surewest. We pay $55 a month for a very fast Internet connection and phone (we don’t do cable).

Last week Surewest had some customer appreciation events. One night they had a free barbeque in Roseville with dinner, dessert, and raffle prizes. Then on Saturday they gave each customer 4 free movie tickets for the movie Up. The boys were very excited since we almost never go to the movies (this was actually Clark’s first time, Blake has gone a few times before). While munching our free donuts and drinking our free juice, we also won a raffle prize – four free tickets to the California State Fair as well as tickets for the monorail. Pretty sweet!

When other companies are cutting back with the economy, Surewest is taking care of it’s customers. I highly recommend them!

*Note*
I didn’t think Up was that amazing. Our kids were scared of all the crazy dogs and most of the movie was really for adults, with a few funny things for children. Clark was totally bored.

I think I have a problem…

Currently there are 10 books sitting on my nightstand.

I’m almost done with the first 2 books, but that still leaves 8 books to read. And that doesn’t even count the 3 audio books I have.

Why do I check out so many?!? (oh wait, I know why. I hear a recommendation and put the book on hold at the library – maybe I’m getting too many recommendations…) Anyone have any suggestions on which ones I should read first? (or not read?)
