Weekly Children’s Book Review

I’ve switched our library day to Wednesday instead of Thursday. We were enjoying storytime every Thursday morning, but then my church started a playgroup every Thursday morning and my 2 year old seems to enjoy that interaction more than sitting still at storytime, so we go to playgroup instead.

Last weekend I bought a lot of used books at DI, so we didn’t check books out at the library this week, just read 10 of the new books we got. Here are the reviews:

Clifford the big Red Dog by Norman Bridwell – OK Favorite, doesn’t seem as enthused about this Clifford

Miss Nelson is Back by Harry Allard and James Marshall – OK Favorite, I loved this book as a child so was excited to buy it for my son. Possibly too long for a 2 year old, but he still enjoyed it.

Just me and my Dad by Mercer Mayer – OK Favorite, not one of the best Little Critter ones.

Elmo Loves You! by Sarah Albee – Favorite, my mother sent this to my kids for Valentine’s Day – so cute!

Oh Bother! Somebody’s Grumpy! by Betty Birney – OK Favorite, little long but we still like Winnie the Pooh

Arthur’s Hiccups by Marc Brown – Favorite, we always love Arthur and this one is a good length for my son

Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What do you See? by Bill Martin Jr. – Almost Favorite, a fun book to learn animals and colors

The Little Engine that Could by Watty Piper – OK Favorite, my son liked the train, but the story was a little long – wonderful message though

Curious George Visits a Toy Store by Margret & H.A. Rey – Almost Favorite, we like this monkey

Spider’s Baby-Sitting Job by Robert Kraus – OK Favorite, my son loved the first Spider book we bought, How Spider saved the Baseball game, but he doesn’t seem as enamored by this one
