Weekly Children’s Book Review

Gaspard and Lisa’s Rainy Day by Anne Gutman – Almost Favorite, this was a fun book of ideas for a rainy day inside

Bess and Bella by Irene Haas – Almost Favorite, we liked this imaginative story of a lonely girl finding a bird with a suitcase of wonderful treasures who stays with her for the winter instead of flying south

This is the Bear by Sarah Hayes – Almost Favorite, a fun story about a lost bear

I Can’t Talk Yet, but When I Do by Julie Markes – OK Favorite, I loved the meaning of this book from a baby’s perspective who can’t talk…but it was a little over my son’s head

Grandma Tells a Story by Lois G Grambling – OK Favorite, another good message about the love of grandparents, but a little dull for my son

Yummers! by James Marshall – Favorite, a very odd story, but that made it original and my son and I loved reading about all the yummy food Emily eats

If you Love a Bear by Piers Harper – Almost Favorite, a fun story for any child who loves his teddy bear and imagines playing with him

Old MacDonald had a Woodshop by Lisa Shulman – Almost Favorite, we really like the Old MacDonald song, so this was a fun twist

The Rain Came Down by David Shannon – Almost Favorite, this was an entertaining story about sour moods when it’s raining, but happiness when it’s sunny

Henny Penny by Paul Galdone – Almost Favorite, another version of “the sky is falling” story…pretty good
